What is the purpose of the COGIC church?

The purpose of the church, in the COGIC tradition, is to glorify God, evangelize the world, edify believers, and uphold biblical holiness. Glorifying God means worshiping and honoring Him in everything the church does, from preaching and worship to daily living. Evangelizing the world emphasizes sharing the Gospel and making disciples across all nations, following Jesus’ Great Commission. Edifying believers focuses on building up the faith through teaching, fellowship, and spiritual discipline so mature, Christlike followers are formed. Upholding biblical holiness points to living in obedience to Scripture and pursuing a holy lifestyle as a witness to the world. This fourfold aim combines worship, mission, discipleship, and holy living as the church’s defining task, making it the best choice. The other options describe possible activities some churches engage in, but they don’t capture the full, foundational mission described here, which centers on God-focused worship, world evangelism, believer edification, and holiness.
